Reduction lino cut is a method of block printing, in which each colour is printed on top of the last. You will learn the technique\'s involved to create these striking colour lino layered prints. You will learn to use carving tools in a variety of shapes and sizes from the delicate V tool to the shallow gouge tool. You will get to watch your print come to life over a multitude of layers, each unique and full of personality. You will go home with an artist proof series of 10 prints onto Fabriano paper. This class is perfect for anyone who would like to be submerged in a day of printmaking and who would like to learn from knowledgable, friendly tutors who will guide you on every step of the creative journey. We’ve been celebrating Frida Kahlo and her incredible vibrant coloured paintings here at the studio for years, and we’re not going to stop now! If anything, we want to celebrate Kahlo’s individualism, energy and modernity more than ever before. We’re therefore very excited to invite you to our very first Frida inspired printing workshops that will help you find your inner Frida! Throughout the evening you will be guided through the process of lino printing, choosing from our three most inspired paintings. Learn how to design, carve and print your very own Frida! This evening is a celebration of Frida’s life and work so of course a toast is to be had! A glass of bubble will be included in your booking or a refreshing orange juice if prefered. This evening is for you to enjoy and create something spectacular, have a good natter and meet other Frida enthusiasts! Using a single block of lino, you will be guided through how to create two or three colour lino prints. This workshop provides an in depth introduction to the possibilities offered by reduction relief printing and the tools and techniques you can use. Guests will learn how to separate and register multiple layers of colour, roll and apply ink and experiment with different methods for lino printing artworks on paper. You will end up with some of your own handmade prints to hang on your wall or give as a gift! It is hosted in our new, hand-built creative studio in the amazing Peckham Levels (2 mins from Peckham Rye station and right beside the infamous Frank's Cafe).
Learn about different forms of relief printing from lino and create unique badges and magnets to take home. This workshop gives an introduction and context to traditional techniques, tools and materials used in relief printing processes, along with methods for creating your prints at home. It's hosted in our colourful Central London studio.
Learn how you can design and create your own lino printed cushion cover or tote bags in our new, hand-built creative studio in the amazing Peckham Levels (2 mins from Peckham Rye station and right beside the infamous Frank's Cafe). You'll be shown how to choose a design, how to carve into lino and how to create the stamp, which you'll then use to print your design onto a cushion cover or 2 tote bags, whichever you prefer. You'll be able to choose from different colours paints.
During this 3 hour workshop, we will teacg you all about effective lino cut works of art or experimental patterns for card and textile design. We will cover the equipment and materials needed and how to avoid a trip to casualty. You will be gaining confidence in the first couple of test prints we will then get you onto fabrics, using specialist fabric inks, and design transfer onto a calico bag or a cotton tea towel.
Lino Print is a great way to create illustrations on paper, cards, wood, and fabric. During this workshop, you will be introduced a lot of techniques you need to know about lino print, materials and tools as well start your own Lino Print Art works.
