Founded in 2017, EmptyChair is London’s trusted mobile booking platform for arts & crafts classes. EmptyChair allows people to host, discover and book unique classes, across a wide spectrum of categories, at times and prices that suit them best. So check us out. You never know – you might just discover your hidden talent. What we’re not: we don’t own or run any studios or workshops, we don’t sell any guidebooks or other educational material, we’re just people who are passionate about learning new skills.

EmptyChair provides our partners (class hosts) with a web-based class registration and diary system so that they can independently control their class descriptions, availability and pricing. Once a partner registers a class with EmptyChair, it will automatically appear on the timetables of our users, where any user can book..

We understand that plans can change and at EmptyChair we have tried very hard to make our cancellation policy as accommodating as possible for our users and partners. If you are sure you would like to cancel your booking, we would encourage you to do so as soon as possible to ensure others have the opportunity to book the empty chair instead! To cancel, on the app, tap the ‘Upcoming’ tab on left side bar of the screen to see your current booked upcoming classes. Tap the class you want to cancel and select ‘Cancel’ at the bottom of the screen. If you cancel a class within 24 hours of the class start time, you will not be entitled to a refund. This policy is important for our partners because it ensures that they are still paid for spots that go unfilled. For many of our partners, filling each spot is critical not only for their business, but for guaranteeing you have a high-quality experience every time you attend their class.

London being the busiest city in the world, it’s normal that we get caught up every once in a while. However, for the safety and experience of the other students, most of our classes are not able to admit people who arrive late to a class. Each studio has its own policy regarding late arrivals. Most encourage you to arrive well before, often 10-15 minutes in advance. If you're ever concerned about making it to class, please reach out to EmptyChair directly via question@emptychair.co and we will do our best to help.

If you believe that you have been charged a different price from the stated class price, please write to us at question@emptychair.com, and provide us with the class booked (including the date and time), what you expected to pay and what you actually paid. We try resolve all billing errors within 5 working days. Please also note you should never incur any further costs for booking and attending a class.

We work closely with our partners to make sure our users get the best possible experience when going to a class on the EmptyChair platform. We also ask our partners to read and accept a set of hosting standards before listing and hosting any class. However, if there was something that let you down and left you feeling unhappy, we encourage you to share it with us. We take all complaints extremely seriously and try our best to resolve the matter within 10 working days. You can do that by: using our in-app review function, speaking directly with the partner hosting the class or reaching out directly to us on question@emptychair.com and providing us with a short summary of the complaint..

We think reviews are a great way for our community to provide honest feedback and better the experience of future users. All reviews for a class are written by users who have attended that class. After attending a class, a user is asked to review his or her experience before booking another class.

Please remember that if you just download our app or sign up to our newsletter, this does not automatically create a user account. If this is you, please sign up first by selecting ‘Login’ and then ‘Become A Member’ in our app on the left-hand side navigation bar. If you do have an account, simply click on ‘Forgot Password?’ on the ‘Login’ screen and you we’ll send you a password reset link. Still have issues? Just email us on question@emptychair.com.

If you have an account with EmptyChair simply click on the ‘login’ button, enter your user name and password. Then click on your profile picture or avatar and then on 'Edit Profile’. Change your details and click ‘submit’ to confirm the new entries.

If you have already registered a class, you can view the details about your class by visiting the ‘Dashboard’ and then selecting ‘Class Management’ on the left-hand side navigation panel. From there, by clicking on the name of the class, further information will become available. If you have not yet registered a class, simply click ‘New Class’ from the ‘Class Management’ screen.

As soon as you get a new booking, EmptyChair will send you a notification email via the email provided during registration. If you no longer have access to this email, please let us know at question@emptychair.com. You can also view individual class bookings by visiting the ‘Dashboard’ and then selecting ‘Class Management’. From there, by clicking on ‘Schedule’ you will be able to see all future classes and the number of ‘seats filled’.

EmptyChair operates an end of week pay-out policy for all our partners. This means that on Friday every week, EmptyChair releases your pay out via bank transfer to the bank account details that you provided during registration. The time it takes for the funds to arrive to your account depends on your bank, and on any public holidays. In general, you should expect the pay-out to reach your account between 3-5 working days. As the pay out is released, you will also get an email from EmptyChair with the full breakdown and details of the transaction. If you believe that you have received an incorrect pay out, please reach out to us on question@emptychair.com and provide a short description of the discrepancy.

We understand that emergencies can happen, and it won’t always be possible for you to host your class. If you already have confirmed bookings, and it is less than 24hours until the start of the class, please notify us as soon as you can by sending an email to question@emptychair.com.

For the convenience of our partners, we have prepared a Class Hosting Standards Guidebook. These standards can help you earn great reviews for providing excellent and educational classes. Most of these standards are common practise, but we do encourage new partners to have a quick read over them before listing a class. You can also see how you’re doing by checking your class ratings.

This can easily be done by visiting the ‘Dashboard’ and then clicking on ‘Edit Profile’ from the ‘Class Management’ tab. If you still have trouble, please email us at question@emptychair.com and let us know.
