The classes are similar to tai chi and through the movements we receive Qi (or Chi) energy which helps us to feel revitalised and energised. At the beginning of each class we chant for around 10 minutes, which helps to open up our energy system to receive energy. At the end of each class we do 20 minutes meditation to absorb the energy we have received and reflect on ourselves. At Jung Shim our aim is to help people increase their human energy levels enabling people to feel more vibrant, more connected to the world around them and happier! Jung Shim classes are a pivotal way of achieving this and a trial class can show you how.

Very excited to welcome a duo of prairie dogs for the first time, herbivorous rodents that live in giant family groups that are known to kiss and groom others in their clan. We will be meeting members of a meerkat mob, all siblings that take turns to watch for danger. And lastly, three rescued sugar gliders, small marsupials that mark each other with saliva to ensure the whole group smells the same.

Learn how to make your very own hand-made notebook using the traditional Concertina bookbind. Run by the London Centre for Book Arts, a super cool open-access studio dedicated to preserving traditional book arts in the UK. This morning workshop -second in the LCBAs series- will look into the Concertina method. This method was used for many early Greek texts, it is a folded structure made by simply folding a sheet of paper back and forth in page-width increments. Producing the accordion-fashion book involves folding and manipulating paper using specialist tools to create traditional book structures by hand. The final product is yours to take home with you and can be used for anything from serious sketches to absent minded doodles. Bookbinding is hungry work, so there i™s also the option of lunch in the Carousel restaurant after you a€™re done.

Modern Calligraphy for Beginners - PL

I signed up to the calligraphy class on my own and I didn't really know what to expect before coming. I need not have worried though, as I was greeted in the studio with a smiley face by Sam, the co-owner of M.Y.O, who welcomed me to have a look around while I waited for the rest of the group. He offered me tea and coffee, and said I could grab something from the bar upstairs and bring it down if I wanted. Near and Far bar upstairs had happy hour on too (£3.75 a cocktail) The class was run by Polly, who was really great. She gave us a bit of background about calligraphy before going over technique. She was relaxed yet attentive which was ideal. Even when I was blobbing ink all over the page she was encouraging, and in the end I came away with a little card that I had written on in a small frame. I am definitely keen to come back to M.Y.O and also to join Polly's map illustration class which looks fab. A lovely evening and would highly recommend.
